Belinda, Brian, and I ran the Disney Half and Full Marathons this past weekend. Michael and Lauren Vause joined us and ran as well. Brian and Lauren ran the half on Saturday and Michael,Belinda and I did the full on Sunday. If you are looking for a great race, this is it! The race runs through the different theme parks with crowds of people cheering you on along the way. Disney is what running is all about. Runners of every shape, size, age, race, etc. and just everyone having fun. We had so much fun that next year we are strongly considering running the Goofy Challenge which is the half marathon on Saturday and the full on Sunday. 39.3 miles in 2 days.
Since this is our first blog and we will share different races we have been doing or timing, I'd also like to tell you about a race we did last month. We did the Hot Chocolate 15k in DC. Unlike the Disney race that was well organized, this race was horribly organized. The race started an hour late due to not able to get traffic into the event. On top of it, the course was along a major DC highway so you got a good dose of auto fumes. And finally, when you finished the post race activities was a hike up a hill and the hot chocolate and food were rationed. Hands down the worse race we have run since trying to run a race in every state and DC.
Our next running event will be one that we are timing, the Polar Bear 5k. We also have other races coming up and we recently purchased some Carolina Running Company apparel that we will sell on our website or at big even. In addition we are working on our signature race, Race for Taylor 5k and 10k, that will be in May. Our goal is to make it an event for our participants and not just a race. Our goal is 300 runners this year which is a big race for Florence.
